In only a few weeks, celebrities will be coming together to support a cause we can all believe in. On Thursday, May 25th, NBC will air a prime-time lineup that will help raise money for a variety of great charities in honor of Red Nose Day.

According to the American Red Nose Day website,"In 1985, [the charity group] Comic Relief launched in the United Kingdom with the goal of using comedy to raise money and help those leading really tough lives." Three years later, the first Red Nose Day was held and "with millions of people participating in its first year, it was clear that a truly amazing movement was underway."

Over the past few years, organizations and celebrities have come together also to support the cause in the United States. The charities that will be receiving support from this day includes the Boys and Girls Club of America, Covenant House and Save the Children. Companies that are supporting these charities include NBC, Walgreens, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Celebrities from all over the country are also supporting the worthwhile endeavor, including the stars of some of NBC's biggest programs.

Oscar winner Julia Roberts, who will be appearing in an episode of Running Wild With Bear Grylls on Red Nose Day, recently met with children who are being supported by Red Nose Day and the video is available online here. Musician Ed Sheeran even traveled to Liberia to see firsthand the work that Red Nose Day supports.
