In a sign of the momentum of Faith on streaming platforms, Bible-themed entertainment has taken center stage on Prime Video in recent weeks, and viewers are taking notice.

Three Bible-centered television series ranked among Prime Video’s Top 10 TV Shows in the U.S. on Tuesday, led by The Chosen Adventures (No. 7) and followed by House of David (No. 8) and The Chosen (No. 10).

The Chosen Adventures launched on the platform Oct. 17 and follows the story of a nine-year-old girl who encounters Jesus in first-century Galilee. It is animated.

Season 2 of House of David debuted on Prime Video’s Wonder Project subscription channel on Oct. 5, continuing the live-action story of David as he rises to power and deepens his friendship with Jonathan while fleeing from King Saul.

Although Prime Video has not released new episodes of The Chosen since the summer, it continues to be a consistent favorite among viewers.

The confluence illustrates how faith-based storytelling is flourishing. Just a decade ago, a single Bible-centered project on a secular ranking was rare. Today, there are three.

Director Dallas Jenkins of The Chosen is the executive producer of The Chosen Adventures. He describes it as a “whimsical” and “witty” take on the live-action series that remains firmly centered on the gospel.

“My hope is that you know and love Jesus a little bit more [after watching it],” he told Crosswalk Headlines. “...Maybe through these stories, you're going to be able to be jolted a little bit out of your routine and be reminded of just what these stories mean. And I think that that's what film and television can do. And especially when you hear these stories from different perspectives, it can remind you of what the real story really is.

“...My hope, ultimately, is that seeing Jesus through the eyes of those who actually met Him can change and impact you in the same way that they were changed and impacted.”

Jon Erwin, creator and co-director of House of David, said he hopes his series draws viewers to Scripture.

“If you love the Bible as I do, I hope that this story will bring a greater sense of meaning and depth,” Erwin told Crosswalk Headlines. “I know I don't read the Psalms the same way after making the show.

“My hope is that it gets people to open up the Book that'll change their life.”
